The Scriptures tell us to submit to God, resist the devil and he will flee. Then, Draw near to God and He (God) will draw near to you. (James 4:7-8)
If God is everywhere (Psalms 139), why must we draw near?
There is a difference between the “Omnipresence” of God and His “Manifest Presence,” (or His ministering presence or His so-called “touch”).
STORY: I experienced God’s touch shortly after I graduated college and was on my own. A preacher shared Luke 11:13 and John 1:9 with me to encourage me to “Receive” Jesus Christ into my life. While I already believed, I had never received Him. So, I invited Him (Jesus) to come into my heart in a simple prayer and He did not withhold His Spirit from me. He touched me and the sensation was indescribable – I could literally feel Him enter. As far as I’m concerned, this is the greatest miracle of all because it changed my life. I recommend the same for you.
Why would anyone want to draw near to God with the promise He will draw near to them also? Ep.3:20 promises that He will perform exceedingly more than anything we can ask or imagine according to His power that is in us.
What will happen to you after you receive Him, draw near and allow Him to influence your life for the better?
Nine “Fruit” (attributes) are promised to those who have The Holy Spirit (Spirit of Christ) within. This is, I believe, God sharing His attributes with us. (Galations 5:22)
- Love (that gives)
- Joy (that spreads)
- Peace (that heals)
- Patience (that strengthens)
- Kindness (that blesses)
- Goodness (that empowers)
- Faith (that believes God)
- Meekness (that humbles)
- Self Control (that allows God)
Pray God will give you His Spirit also. Receive Him by just humbly asking in Jesus’ name. (John 1:12/Luke 11:13)
