CHILD OF GOD

John 1:12   ...As many as received Him, to them that believe on His name, He has given power to become a child of God...

As a follower of Jesus, keep in mind that life on Earth is temporary and eternal life with God is worth everything.  Therefore, by God's grace, receive the righteousness God has for you in-Christ through forgiveness of sin and receive His godliness as we walk with The Lord daily.  God wants to "do life" with you and has equipped you to "fight the good fight of faith" against all earthly distractions and every other obstacle.

Live like a child of The King because you are.  Be confident and secure in who you are.  You have received Christ and believe He is God's Son who died for you and rose again for you.  He is the same today as before.  Walk with Him and be victorious.

WANT TO MEDITATE?

MANY CHRISTIANS PRAYERFULLY MEDITATE ON SCRIPTURE AND FIND IT TO BE A NICE THERAPUTIC EXERCISE.  OTHER TRADITIONS AND GROUPS ALSO FIND IT TO BE A VERY BENEIFICIAL PRACTICE.

From the Psalms, we read that meditating on God's word (some translations say, "The Law") makes us fruitful, healthy and prosperous.

Below are a few truths from the Holy Bible upon which you can focus to, hopefully, find hope and encouragement for your soul.  (This is based on Philippians 4:8)

1.  God is love.  (1 John 4:8)  He loves you more than you can imagine.

2.  Everyone falls short. (Romans 3:23)  You are not alone in your failings.

3.  Jesus paid the punishment for your shortcomings.  (Romans 5:8)  He forgives you.

4.  He was the perfect sacrifice for your sins. (Revelation 5:12)  Jesus died for you.

5.  Jesus is alive and exalted in Heaven.  (Philippians 2:9-11)  He is above all.

6.  Believing in Jesus is an invaluable guarantee.  (Romans 10:9)  Eternal life with God.

7.  Your name is written in Heaven.  (Luke 10:19-20)  The "Good News" for every believer.

8.  God is worthy of our praise and gratitude for ever.  (Psalms 150:1-6)  Praise God.

DOES GOD CARE?

HEADLINES LATELY ARE OBSCENELY PREGNANT WITH BAD NEWS

It has been said that, "Bad news sells papers," but the world seems to be getting worse and worse.

One young man, reportedly, heard some sad news from a relative and determined that he was an atheist.

So, the question of the hour is, DOES GOD CARE?

All this has happened before in Bible history (Genesis for example) and in world history with disaters, wars, rebellion against  the ruling class and opression by cruel dictators.  And yet, here we are several millenia later still living our lives and trying to live at peace with each other. God still loves us, even when we sin (Romans 5:8), and proved it by giving His Son to die for us (John 3:16).

We do well to trust Him, no matter what (Proverbs 3:5-6), and to let Him guide us through this world to our ultimate salvation.

GOD CARES ABOUT YOU (1 Peter 5:7).

WORSHIP

We all know of famous people who have found fame by great achievment.

Edison, Armstrong, Lindbergh, Sullenberger and Salk have names that deserve recognition.

When heroes and humanitarians contribute to mankind's overall success and wellbeing, we honor their name.

Enter the Savior of the world, Jesus Christ - God made flesh - and we acknowledge His worth with worship...

Who, being in very nature God…   he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.  And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death — even death on a cross!  Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.              (Philippians 2: 5-11)

TRUST GOD

God is vastly ahead of us in power, knowledge and love. (Isaiah 55:8-9)

However you imagine your solution, God is able and more. (Ephesians 3:20)

Draw near to God and see that He is really there for you. (James 4:8)

God has a plan for you that is just right, if you believe and receive. (Jeremiah 29:11)

"But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name." (John 1:12)

CHRISTIANITY MEANS LOVE

Christ followers do not always agree with what's trending in our culture but that should never compromise our prime directive from Jesus to love (John 13:35-36).

Hot topics on talk radio and FaceBook will often follow lead stories in the news where the more controvercial, the more chatter is generated.  So, suppose a religious leader disagrees with someone else’s agenda for culture change; is this intolerant or merely freedom of speech?

What did Jesus say?  “Speak the truth in love,” “Love your enemies” and “Pray for those who persecute you."  So, Christians, let’s prayerfully speak God’s truth in love, without hate, accusation or labeling.

Yes, remember they hated Jesus, even though He was God’s love personified and we can also expect opposition to our Bible-based world view but we still cannot compromise God's love or the Truth.  Stay committed to God’s word and keep on loving!

GOD SHARES HIS POWER

So, why don't we see modern-day miracles today like the people did in the Bible?  I say we do.  The birth of a baby, the healing of a wound and the countless wonders of creation evidence things God is doing every day.  There are a few renowned atheists who have come to believe in God because of the evidence that points to an intelligent Creator.  The Gospel of John chapter 1 reveals we can receive Jesus Christ God's Son.

  1. JESUS HAS POWER TO OVERRULE THE LAWS OF PHYSICS (John 2/The Miracle Worker)
  2. HE CARES ABOUT LITTLE THINGS (Matthew 6/Birds)
  3. HE CARES ABOUT YOUR BIG NEEDS (Philippians 4:19/Compassion)
  4. OBEDIENCE IS USUALLY A PART OF YOUR MIRACLE. (John 2:5/Do Whatever He Tells You)
  5. JESUS CHRIST IS THE SAME TODAY (Hebrews 13:8/You are His temple)
  6. HE SAVED THE BEST TO LAST (John 2:10/Your Good Old Days are still ahead)
  7. JESUS CHRIST IS GOD (John 14:9/Accept Him as Lord)

GOD IS PATIENT

He does not want any to perish or fail in their sin.

We know from Joseph, Moses and Ruth in the Old Testament that faithfulness pays off.

Do not grow eary of well doing for in due season you will reap a harvest if you don't give up. Galatians 6:9

GOD IS STEADFAST

He does not change in His character.  He is love, more than "loving," in His essence; giving, faithful, trustworthy and caring.

His words in John16:33 promise us He can help us overcome our troubles and we will have them.

Finding trouble in this life is the shortest walk in the world.

Finding help in our hour of need is just a prayer away.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9

FEAR NOT

While God gave us all fear, I believe, as a defense mechanism, He also wants us to control our fears.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9

Fear is an interesting motivator for the simple reason that fear motivates inaction. If you see something that startles you, your body freezes for a minute, and then you have two choices: Do I run, or do I fight? In our Christian walk, the enemy uses fear tactics to keep believers in a stance of inaction. If we continue in the pattern of fear for too long, something dangerous can happen: we can lose our courage.

In Joshua 1:9, God is encouraging Joshua to be strong and of good courage because God will be with him. This same promise is for you today. Whatever you face, whatever the circumstance or situation in your life, God is with you - Matthew 28:20.

SPRING HAS SPRUNG

As we notice birds singing in the early morning and hear lawn mowers in the neighborhood, we know winter has passed.

THIS IS A SPECIAL TIME OF REBIRTH, INCREASED SUN LIGHT AND HOPE FOR ENJOYABLE OUTDOOR ACTIVITY.

So, as we move forward into warmer weather with visions of increased time in the beauty of God's creation, let's remember our Creator.

He has offered you a spiritual rebirth with the light of His love and the beauty of His forgivess to help you day-to-day, in easy times and hard.

Remember to include His continuous presence in your heart and mind through daily prayer, His word and a healthy commitment to His church.

GOD IS GOOD, ALL THE TIME

GIVE YOURSELF A CHECKUP

It's been a while since you made your New Year's resolution...

A BIG CHUNK OF THE YEAR IS GONE!

How are you doing with those promises you made to yourself?

DON'T FEEL BAD, MOST RESOLUTIONS FAIL BY FEBRUARY 1ST.

Let God help you do better...   and you don't need to wait until next year.

Seriously, pray about those disciplines you know you need to work on.

Here's a few suggestions...

STUDY = Read 3 chapters in the Bible each day. (23/week)

PRAY = Write down (journal) prayer requests to daily pray for God to bless those I love.

MEDITATE = Spend at least 5 minutes every day in silent meditation before the Lord.

TEMPLE WORK = Perform at least 5 minutes of any physical activity. (Stretching, Deep Breathing, Walking, Jogging, Avoiding "Poisons",  Etc.)

SO, WHAT DO YOU THINK?

God's got your back...

Going through some challenging times?  Stressed? Need strength and encouragement??  I'm reposting a quote I found about HOPE from Lisa Beamer's book, "Let's Roll!"

Lisa is the widow of the 9-11 hero, Todd Beamer who was on Flight 93. This lesson was from earlier in her life as with God she faced the unexpected sudden death of her father when she was just 15. "Slowly I began to understand that the plans God has for us don’t just include 'good' things, but the whole array of human events … I remember my mom saying that many people look for miracles — things that in their human minds “fix” a difficult situation.

Many miracles, however, are not a change to the normal course of human events; they’re found in God’s ability and desire to sustain and nurture people through even the worst situations. Somewhere along the way, I stopped demanding that God fix the problems in my life and started to be thankful for his presence as I endured them.”

- Lisa Beamer, Let's Roll!: Ordinary People, Extraordinary Courage

WHEN YOU DON'T HAVE A PRAYER

Jesus said to the one paralyzed for thirthy-eight years, "Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk!" (John 5:2-8)

It is a common belief that this invalid did not know who Jesus was and, in fact, was later corrected by Jesus over a sin issue.

THIS INVALID WAS HEALED WITH NO EVIDENCE OF BELIEVING OR PRAYING BUT HE DID DO WHAT THE LORD COMMANDED.

WHAT DO WE SEE HERE?
1. JESUS HAS COMPASSION FOR SINNERS/WE SHOULD TOO (Luke 6:27)
2. KNOWING HE WILL DO THIS FOR A NON-BELIEVER GIVES HOPE TO THOSE WHO DO (John 14:13-14)
3. FOLLOWING GOD’S WORD BRINGS RESULTS (James 1:22)

He rolled up his sleeping mat and began walking! (Vs. 9)

REMEMBER, SUPERNATURAL FOR US IS NATURAL FOR GOD

John 14:13-14 “And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.”

"LOVE NEVER FAILS"

Thank you for checking out my blog. You are important to God - I know this because He gave His own Son to die for you.

JESUS SAID...

In the Gospel of Mark, chapter 12, Jesus talked about the greatest commandment and one other that is also very important. In the book of 1 John, chapter 4, God's word tells us that He is love. 1 Corinthians 13:8 reveals, "Love never fails."

Love is an action word; it shows and it gives. "For God so loved the world He gave..." With each of the ten commandments, found in Exodus 20:2-17, the unselfish and humble soul who gives of him or her self for the benefit and interest of others, namely God and our neighbor, will find the satisfaction of true love we've all been seeking.

Mark 12:30-31 "Thou shalt love The Lord Thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul and with all thy mind and with all thy strength and thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself."

"RESET"

When the old TV set would malfunction and the rabbit ear adjustment failed to correct the problem, there was a red reset button on the back that would usually fix the sound and picture.

When Mario, from the Mario Brothers video game, would crash his car into the wall once too often we could push the reset button on the old Nintendo console and revive him good as new.

Every January first, most people take pause to reset things in their life that they feel need fixing as if tearing off the December page to reveal the January page does something magical that allows us to make a fresh start.

When life makes you feel like you're out of focus, or you've crashed and burned, or you've made some regrettable mistakes you wish you could undo; God has a reset button to give you a fresh start, that is if we let him help us to redirect our path.

IF WE CONFESS OUR SINS HE IS FAITHFUL AND JUST TO FORGIVE US OUR SINS AND TO CLEANSE US FROM ALL UNRIGHTEOUSNESS.           (1 JOHN 1:9)

"THE CHRISTMAS PROPHECY"

The Old Testament verse, Isaiah 9:6, reveals the four titles God has for His Son who would be born in Bethlehem to a virgin.

WONDERFUL COUNSELOR (THE WISEST PERSON OF ALL WANTS TO HELP YOU)

MIGHTY GOD (ALL THE POWER OF CREATION AND MORE IS AVAILABLE)

EVERLASTING FATHER (A BENEVOLENT PROVIDER LOVES YOU ETERNALLY)

PRINCE OF PEACE (PLACING HIM IN CHARGE OF YOUR LIFE REMOVES ALL FEAR)

PLEASE MAKE IT YOUR PERSONAL PRAYER THAT "GOD-WITH-US" (Matthew 1:23) WILL BE YOUR FOCUS THIS CHRISTMAS AND THAT YOU WILL ACCEPT HIS GIFT FOR YOUR LIFE IN THE PERSON OF JESUS CHRIST GOD'S SON.

"THE CHRISTMAS REASON"

Carols over the loud speakers in stores, houses decorated with colorful lights, "Oldies" stations on the radio playing holiday music, toy commercials on TV, stores with special window displays and all those seasonal treats remind us of this most-wonderful time of the year. Christmas can also be hard for some because they are alone or, perhaps, they lack the resources to celebrate the same way their friends and neighbors do.  Some may also feel frustrated that commercialism has compromised the true meaning of this world-wide event.

PLEASE MAKE IT YOUR PERSONAL PRAYER THAT "GOD-WITH-US" (Matthew 1:23) WILL BE YOUR FOCUS THIS CHRISTMAS AND THAT HIS LOVE WILL BE THE OBJECT OF YOUR CELEBRATION, NOT ONLY FOR YOU, BUT FOR EVERYONE HE HAS PLACED IN YOUR LIFE.

"WHOM SHALL I FEAR?"

Romans 1:20 teaches us that we are without excuse to believe in God because He has revealed Himself to us through the things that He made.

Consider the billions of galaxies containing billions of stars involving countless solar systems and an unknown number of planets, moons and asteroids.  Look at our complicated planet with mountains, oceans, vegetation and wildlife that cooperate through ecosystems involving the food chain, hydration and atmosphere.  Imagine the genius of God who put all this together into a self sustaining machine that engages sunlight for energy, the invisible subatomic realms for the mystery of life along with gravity, electro magnetism and all the other laws of physics.

This incomprehensible God has also revealed Himself to us through Jesus Christ our Lord. To quote the Gospel, God's Son is, "God with us."

Both the Proverbs and the Psalms teach us that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.  Thinking about a reverent kind of fear is not very hard when we pause to compare our frail existence to His greatness.

Yes, we should fear the one who has all the power but also season that with His loving nature, not willing that any should perish, and seeking a relationship with us so He can help us.

"WHY DEATH, DISEASE AND DISASTER?"

Without any doubt; God's plan, from beginning to end, is a perfect world with perfect people who live with a perfect God. In the book of Genesis everything He made was good and in the book of Revelation He has prepared a place for all His children with no tears, no death, no sorrow and no sin.

In the mean time, somewhere between creation and heaven, we all have to deal with the consequences of sin - which repels a holy God. Death, disease and disaster seem to be ruling the world since, essentially, mankind has kicked God out. The headlines are self evidencing that people who are ignorant of God's good plan are running away from it, and in some cases, flaunting an evil agenda as they go.

This is where logic might say, "Wipe out all evil and start over." God's love, however, says that He does not want any to perish.

Enter the Savior who died as the punishment for all our sins. He said we would have trouble in this world but to not be dismayed because He has overcome the world. Let Him help you get through the challenges of this life and take you safely to the next one, free from all pain.

"THE ESSENTIAL COMMANDMENT"

Thank you for checking out my blog. You are important to God - I know this because He gave His own Son to die for you.

JESUS SUMMARIZED...

"ARM YOURSELF"

Thank you for checking out my blog. You are important to God - mainly because when He gave His own Son to die for you.

LIFE IS ONE TRIAL AFTER ANOTHER...

EXAMPLE: From childhood we have to fall a few times before we can walk. We stammer in baby talk before we learn good communication.  We also find other temporary failures in school, relationships and careers before we find our way in life.

God's word gives us wisdom for the battles we will fight in life in Ephesians chapter 6 by telling us to arm ourselves.  He says, "Put on the full armor of God," which means we have toprotect every area of our life, from head to toe, to include our mind, our heart and our trust in God. These trials are spiritual, not about earthly issues or personalities, because we have a real enemy and we all need God's help.

Ephesians 6:10-12 "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."

"COUNTER INTUITIVE GENEROSITY"

Thank you for checking out my blog. You are important to me, in-part, because you important to God - demonstrated when He gave His own Son to die for you.

SO, IN PURSUIT OF THE GOOD LIFE, WE'VE ALL LEARNED A LOT BY TRIAL AND ERROR...

EXAMPLE: My indigestion used to be remedied by antacids of all kinds but the result was always temporary. I seemed to be hooked on Tums.  Then I found a different remedy that went against my logic but it proved to be the best solution when I introduced apple cider vinegar (meaning more acid) to my upset stomach. It was my digestive system's inability to digest certaing foods that caused my ailment and more acid was the cure.

God's word can also seem counter intuitive at times. Logic says, if we are needy we must conserve, hoard, beg, borrow and scheme to grab what we want. God says, "Give."

Luke 6:36-38 "Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: Give, and it shall be given unto you, good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again."

"SEASONS"

Thank you for checking out my blog. You are SO important to God - demonstrated when He did not spare His own Son to die for you.

SO, WE'RE ALL PROBABLY USED TO THE CHANGING SIGNS OF THE SEASONS, FROM THE SEEDINGS OF SPRING TO THE COLORS OF FALL.  WE KNOW, SEASONS CHANGE AND WE ANTICIPATE...

The Bible tells us that life also has seasons (Ecclesiastes 3) with a time for joy, a time for sorrow, a time for war and a time for peace.  We all enjoy the new life of a baby in the family with showers, first birthday parties and watching them take their first steps.  We all grieve the loss when a loved one dies and we go through the traditions of funeral gatherings with sadness as we walk away from the grave after that final farewell.

I believe, the point God is making in these Scriptures is that seasons of good times and hard times will come and go but none of them last. Seasons of life change just like those of nature. We'll all go through our so-called dark valleys and green pastures in this world but God, in His providence, will accompany us and help us in every situation if we walk with Him.

GALATIANS 6:9  Do not grow weary in well doing for in due season you will reap a harvest if you do not give up.

"BELIEVE"

SO, WE LOOK AROUND AND SEE THE WONDERS OF CREATION (Romans 1:20) AND THINK, "I BELIEVE IN GOD."

My question on this most-fundamental assertion of faith is to ask, can we believe and simply stop there in our relationship with The Almighty?  James, the brother of Jesus, reminds us in his epistle that even the demons believe.  So, what more is there?

Adam and Eve had to believe in God in the garden because He walked and talked with them; yet they did not believe His word that warned them against the consequences of eating forbidden fruit. Obviously, believing in God's existance here was sadly not enough.

Now, I believe, our basic instinct with which we are all born is to strive for independance as we grow into this life on Earth. In a way, we're encouraged to be less and less dependant and more and more self sufficient. We cannot, however, lose our dependance on The Creator.

JAMES 1:22  Do not merely listen to the word (of God), do whet it says.

"PRESENCE"

PSALM 139:1 O lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.

How amazing is this, that The Almighty would care for someone such as you. It's true - it's true!  Lord, Your love for us all is higher that the heavens. We stand in awe!

PSALM 139:6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.

I DARE YOU TO READ PSALMS 139

God has seen you and knows you more than you know yourself; your activities, words and even your thoughts. You are surrounded by the most righteous and wisest person who is familiar with everything about you - even your formation before you were born. God is interested in you and understands your painful past, your failures and why you are the way you are. Ask Him to show you the way to a better you and follow.

SCRIPTURES TO LIVE BY

Hebrews 4:12, in the New Testament, reveals God's word to be "alive and active" to the extent that it penetrates our innermost being.  Our core values include the foundational statement, "We are people of the Word."  Reading, meditation, memorizing and living by God's Scriptures is a supernatural energy birthed in heaven that helps our lives.

God's word instructs us to fight the good fight of the faith because serving Him in a world that, for the most part, rejects His word is hard.  There are those who would oppose or persecute us for following the Bible's teaching.  Don't give up, stay in the Word and realize God is not only offering you Paradise in the next life, He's offering you power to make it through the trials of this life.

CHILD OF GOD

1Tim. 6:11-12. But you, man of God...   pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called...

As followers of Jesus we keep our mind on the fact that life on Earth is temporary and eternal life with God is worth everything.  Therefore, by God's grace, we have righteousness in-Christ through forgiveness of sin and godliness as we walk with our Lord daily.  God wants to "do life" with us and so we are called to "fight the good fight of faith" against worldly distractions and other obstacles.

God's word instructs us to fight because serving Him in a world that rejects His truth is difficult.  There are those who would oppose or persecute us for following the Bible's teaching.  Don't give up, stay in the Word and realize God is not only offering you Paradise in the next life, He's offering you power to make it through the trials of this life.

CHRISTIANITY  -  ALTERNATIVE TO HATRED

Hot topics on talk radio, campaign trails and Face Book will often follow lead stories in the news.  The more sad, tragic and threatening, the more chatter is generated.  So, suppose a religious leader, a politician or a spokes person disagrees with someone else’s agenda for culture change and makes public statements against them; is this intolerant, hatred or merely freedom of speech?

The enemy of our soul, the devil, is “the accuser” whom Jesus tried to confront in John chapter 8.  It seems too many people, believers and non-believers, are quick to label and accuse everyone and anyone today.  If there is an accusation, there’s a counter-accusation followed by blaming, labeling, anger and so on.

What did Jesus say?  “Speak the truth in love,” “Love your enemies,” “Pray for them which despitefully use you and persecute you” and, “You will have trouble in this world.”  So, Christians, let’s speak God’s truth in love, without hate, accusation or labeling and then you’ll be wise to expect opposition.

Yes, remember they hated Jesus too, even though He was God’s love personified.  We cannot compromise The Truth by mixing it with hate but we also cannot hide it or dilute it either.  Stay committed to God’s word and keep on loving!

"SCIENCE AND GOD"

TODAY, I GO OUT ON A LIMB TO TALK ABOUT A TOPIC I'VE ALWAYS FOUND INTERESTING, EVEN THOUGH I'M NO EXPERT - SCIENCE.

I truly believe God word as revealed in the Bible which states, "All things were made by Him." (John 1:3)

If that is true, where's the evidence? (Romans 1:20)
1. MANY SCIENTISTS AGREE, BY THE WONDERS OF CREATION, THAT THERE IS AN INTELLIGENT CREATOR.
2. MANY BIBLE SCHOLARS AND EDUCATED BELIEVERS DO NOT CONSIDER GOD'S WORD AND SCIENCE TO BE AT ODDS.
3. MANY FORMER ATHEISTS HAVE CHANGED THEIR VIEWS, FROM UNBELIEF TO "BELIEVING," BASED ON THE SCIENTIFIC RECORD.

Sometimes I imagine that an atheist cannot find God for the same reason a burglar cannot find the police.  They're not looking.

One example out of millions is this; everything we can see or measure is "ordered" - like the perfect orbit of an electron circling the nucleus of an atom or the amount of data management that occurs in the human brain each second or our Earth hung out in space in the right position to neither burn us up like Venus (at over 800 degrees) nor to freeze us to death Mars (at minus 62) or the DNA molecule or the creation of new life from a fertilized egg or the healing qualities of the human body...  MIRACLES GALORE!

"A DAY IN THE LIFE OF JESUS"

John chapter 6 and the other three Gospels all record the day when Jesus fed 5,000 people. What a day He had!

It started when He learned that His cousin, John the Baptist, had been killed.  Then, He went off to be alone by boat but the people caught up with Him where He had compassion for them, healed them and fed them all with His miraculous power.  After this He went on to be alone with His Father to pray all night.

Later on, in the night, He went on to walk on water, still a storm and later-still He cast out demons when He got to the other shore.

WHAT DO WE SEE HERE?
1. JESUS HAD EVERY RIGHT TO BE ALONE IN HIS GRIEF BUT HE STOPPED TO HELP ALL THE PEOPLE.
2. HE DID NOT NEGLECT HIS PRAYER TIME WITH GOD AS HE CONTINUED-ON TO BE WITH HIM ALL NIGHT LONG.
3. THIS TIME SPENT WITH THE FATHER SEEMED TO GIVE HIM EVEN MORE POWER, DEMONSTRATED BY THREE MORE MIRACLES.

THEREFORE, MAKE YOUR FATHER IN HEAVEN A PRIORITY ALSO BUT ALSO PRIORITIZE THOSE HE HAS PLACED AROUND YOU. LOVE THEM BOTH THE WAY JESUS DID. LET IT SHOW.  (Mark 12:30-31)

"MY SITUATION SEEMS HOPELESS..."

Now there is in Jerusalem near the Sheep Gate a pool... Here a great number of disabled people used to lie – the blind, the lame, the paralyzed. One who was there had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?” John 5:2-6 (NIV)

It is a common belief that this invalid did not know who Jesus was and, in fact, was later corrected by Jesus because of a sin problem.

Jesus said, "Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk!" (Vs. 8)

THIS INVALID WAS HEALED WITH NO EVIDENCE OF "BELIEVING," EXCEPT HE DID WHAT THE LORD SAID.

WHAT DO WE SEE HERE?
1. JESUS HAS COMPASSION FOR SINNERS/AND WE SHOULD TOO (Luke 6:27)
2. GOD LOOKS AT THE HEART/PURSUE GODLINESS (1 Tim. 6:11)
3. FOLLOWING GOD’S WORD BRINGS POWER (James 1:22)

He rolled up his sleeping mat and began walking! (Vs. 9)

THEREFORE, NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE (SUPERNATURAL FOR US IS NATURAL FOR GOD)

CAN GOD HELP SOMEONE ELSE THROUGH MY PRAYERS?

SO, IF I WANT TO PRAY FOR SOMEONE WHO IS UNAWARE OF MY DESIRE TO INTERCEDE FOR THEM, WILL GOD ACCEPT MY REQUEST? YES, ABSOLUTELY. NOBODY "DESERVES" GOD'S FAVOR BUT IN JOHN CHAPTER 4 A FATHER PRAYED FOR JESUS TO HEAL HIS DYING SON WHO WAS MANY MILES AWAY BUT JESUS SIMPLY TOLD HIM TO GO HOME AND TOLD HIM HIS SON WAS HEALED; AND HE WAS. NOTE THESE TRUTHS FROM JOHN CHAPTER 4...

WHAT IS SUPERNATURAL FOR US IS NATURAL FOR GOD (Easy for Him)
WHAT PRECEDES BIG MIRACLES IS BIG PROBLEMS (Prayer during a crisis is acceptable.)
WHAT EVER HE SAYS BELIEVE/TRUST HIS WORD. (This father believed Jesus and went home.)
WHAT MIRACLES BRING IS CONTAGIOUS FAITH (This man's household believed in Jesus too.)
WHAT A SIGN POINTS TO IS NEVER ITSELF (This and other miracle stories point to Jesus' divine identity. - John 20:31)
WHAT GOD LIKES IS "PERSONAL" MIRACLES (He loves you more than you do and He can bless you more than you can, so let Him.)
WHAT YOU DESIRE... THAT'S IS GOD’S BUSINESS. (Ps. 37:4 reveals that God wants to give you your desires.)
WHEN YOU PRAY, REMEMBER TO PRAY ALSO FOR THOSE WHOM YOU LOVE.

WHAT ABOUT MIRACLES?

So, why don't we see modern-day miracles today like the people did in the Bible?  I say we do see them for many reasons.  The birth of a baby, the healing of a wound and the countless wonders of creation evidence things God is doing every day that we, for the most part, take for granted.  There are a few renowned atheists who have come to believe in God because of the evidence that points to an intelligent Creator.  The Gospel of John chapter 2 shows Jesus' first miracle and also reveals why He does them.

  1. JESUS HAS POWER TO OVERRULE THE LAWS OF PHYSICS (A real Miracle Worker)

WHAT ABOUT EVIL IN THE WORLD?

So, how can a good God allow evil to exist along with the suffering that comes with it? Simply stated, His plan is to get you through the "Troubles" of this world to a place of perfection and peace. Jesus spoke about our troubles...   “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”  - John 16:33
